First Capital REIT (FCR)
First Capital REIT (FCR) has one of the largest retail portfolios in the Yorkville-Bloor area. Their collection of properties is anchored by Yorkville Village, a premier retail destination at 55 Avenue Road abutting the 138 Yorkville residence. In addition, FCR owns a number of boutiques on Yorkville Avenue, Scollard Street, and the retail podium at One Bloor East. FCR’s strategic transformation of the neighbourhood has welcomed prime new retailers, including several first-to-market luxury brand introductions to the Bloor-Yorkville area. Within Yorkville, FCR’s neighborhood portfolio is valued at over $580 million covering 400,000 square feet of retail density. As a founding partner of the esteemed Brisbin Brook Beynon Architects, he leads some of the firm’s most daring and momentous projects. From New York City to Los Angeles, Istanbul, Tokyo, Toronto, and Moscow — to name a few — Brisbin’s work dots the globe, all with equal aplomb. Much like his architectural journey, his prevailing design ethos is worldly and without borders. For Brisbin, every project starts with, “What if…?” 138 Yorkville is no exception. His design philosophy is one of reflection, awareness, and harmony. Astutely aware of the venerable concept of “genius loci,” Brisbin meticulously seeks to create a spirit of place — architecture that is felt, experienced, and remembered. Careful consideration is placed on every architectural element and detail.
Alessandro Munge
INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED INTERIOR DESIGNER
Alessandro Munge is the creative force who channels his talents into exquisite modern design, meticulously crafting the 138 Yorkville interiors. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry defined by his inquisitive nature and an unfailing quest for perfection, Munge has a long and effusive relationship with the world of design. His international travels, cultural exposure and global perspective give Studio Munge the ability to create and sculpt spaces into distinctive, signature experiences that reflect the essence and vibrancy of their inhabitants – while incorporating elements from each project’s architecture, sense of place, history and heritage. Some of Munge’s most stunning interior design accomplishments include the 5-star luxury Diaoyutai MGM in Qingdao, China; the world’s tallest Shangri-La Hotel in Nanning, China; Edition Edgewater Miami; and more than 20 restaurants, speakeasies, lounges, and luxury retailers in Las Vegas’ most prestigious casinos.
